3. Huge haul of new Stone Carvings: gotta be 1 you like!
In depth, 13-minute video survey, take your time and enjoy it! We’ve got less than a month before Thanksgiving – and apart from some custom bracelets I’m expecting – this is it for new product. All is to be showcased at our 3 November shows; the Portal Crystal Gallery (in Arlington, MA) for the Holidays; and then at the Tucson Gem Show on 22nd Street (Jan/Feb ’26). I ran this broadcast as a LIVE on TikTok, which is a convenient video-capture medium – the swapping camera while filming is a great feature – and then I can save it to my phone and upload it here with ease. If you see anything you’d like, please take a screenshot and email my CrystalConcentrics@gmail.com (text is fine too). They actually curtailed the exposure of my Live, because I was directing people to contact me off platform for Sales (and they don’t like that). But setting up a TikTok shop – when my product line is always evolving, and in flux – does not seem practical at this time. Anyhow, there’s gotta be SOMEthing you want here!?

1. Wholesale Show: GLW in West Springfield last weekend
After the epic double bill of Topsfield + the Fall NJ show the weeks previous, the GLW wholesale show was a ‘piece of cake’ last week. Not exactly, though. I had to scramble to select my offerings by concept: more expensive Display Pieces, including fancy stone birds from Brazil (I was offered 30% below my purchase cost on the best one); Jade jewelry and other offerings; 3D printed creatures; Bracelets; small Carvings; and Necklaces on super sale.
People appreciate the Jade, ’cause nobody else carries it at most shows, especially at half price. The carvings were not my best selection (being reserved for shows & the shop in December). The fancy display pieces were all over budget for people trying to fill in before the Holidays (especially relative to some of my friendly competitors at the show). My small 50% off bracelets were not competitive, but will work great Retail. And the buyers who liked the 3D pieces previously, didn’t show up. I did have a surprise sale of a valuable Moldavite pendant personally, to the sister of another exhibitor (who asked about, and actually read “My Moldavite Breakthrough” blog post)!
It was one of the worst shows I’ve done in this twice annual caper – in terms of financial ROI for me – but was a bonanza in terms of picking up great new product to work into my upcoming Retail selection (including Tucson in Jan/Feb).
Next time, I plan to start integrating a display of minerals, high end and budget/sale items. It’s been on my list to do.
My current (and not returning) neighbor inspired me, with his selection of top quality Quartz clusters and specimens, though he did have a bunch of bottom-of-the-barrel, by-the-flat offerings that I culled from (and didn’t help his overall display).

3. Latest Meditation Layout: in person gathering with stones
Every Meditation we do is unique – this one brought in some newbies – a Muzo point Lemurian Quartz and a spectacular starburst Smoky (both from Brazil). There was a large Bloodstone textbook museum piece & a large Elestial/Celestial Quartz shard. We brought in Smoky Barite (combines Smoky Quartz, Topaz, and Celestite vibes) & Emerald. You’d have to be there to know how all these stones contributed to our experience. Individual stones we then worked with included a UFO-shaped Septarian; Clear Quartz ball; Yellow-Stripe Selenite; a very valuable Blue Fluorite octahedron; and a giant Orange Aventurine Lingam Stone. 4. Perspective (some thoughts on life and the world)
Doing Denver in September and 2 shows in October was a MAJOR logistical challenge I’m quite proud of masterminding and carrying through with flying colors, in part due to my wonderful team (who held down Topsfield while I was in Jersey). I’m receiving my last inventory of ’25 – for Sale at the shop, particularly in December – and at the now THREE shows I’m doing back-to-back in November.
I’ve sold out of my book, so I’ll only have a handful of copies for the Natural Living Expo, which will be the most fully stocked of the 3 shows. Still, I have boxes set aside for PA & Worcester that I’m not showing in Marlboro. So whether you come to any of the shows – or particularly to Portal for Holiday shopping – you’ll find PLENTY of great items to purchase!

3. Fall NJ Gem Show: my first time at this new show
Last year we couldn’t make it – needed to tend to Topsfield alone – but now our team is big (and experienced) enough to run the MA show – while I do the simultaneous Fall NJ Gem Show, with all the same items, but more…as the Gem Show crowd is interested in the bigger display pieces I also bring.
4. Perspective (some thoughts on life and the world)
On a personal note – I was thrilled to travel for 10 days with family – and get to know my daughter’s boyfriend. I’m settled in to my new/used van, and loving it. Lotta miles, standing, and selling…striving to make all ends meet by the end of the year.
Why am I not happier that the hostages are being let out imminently? Because the H group is up to its usual shenanigans, and the sweetness of peace will likely be short lived. Also, all those who clamored for a ceasefire are not happy because that is not what they really want. The global rise of antisemitism will not be pacified be the end of the current conflict, they want blood, and will continue to let it flow…you’ll see…and this is why the conflict will inevitably grind on. UNLESS – the big players in the Middle East can set an example – they might be learning the lesson finally (and can show everyone else how it’s done): Coexistence is the name of the game.

1. Petrified Waterfalls: hilltop springs source growing formation
Called ‘Hierve el Aqua’ – translated literally as ‘Boil the Water’ – this landmark is southeast of Oaxaca City. Oaxaca state itself is in the southeast of Mexico, with only one other state (of Chiapas, famous for its Amber) separating it from Guatemala. In any case – what’s happening here happens in only one other place in the world – Turkey. A remote hilltop is home to multiple springs welling up out of the earth and dripping downwards at a trickle, rich in minerals (primarily Calcite), that harden into the ‘stalagtitic’ stone waterfalls we see here. There are 3 green pools (2 of which have been harnessed by human-built, rounded retaining walls) that stem the flow of water down the hill, and create the most sublime, healing water swimming holes. I was blessed to visit this natural wonder with my family, and we recommend our tour guide: @ZapotecTravelByLily (offering indigenous woman-centered cultural experiences). I’m always pleased when my travel allows me to continue to produce stone-centered (CrystalConcentric, if you will) content.

3. Artisanal Candlemaking: from drip to dazzling
During a family trip to Oaxaca, Mexico – in the southeast of the country (with only Amber-famous Chiapas state separating it from Guatemala) – we were blessed to visit this family-based, candle-making community. They make everything from simple drip candles – which they thicken one by one, turning a great big wheel of them – to intricately carved and leafed masterpieces. We bought a few, ’cause they’re just so great. And we recommend our tour guide: @ZapotecTravelByLily, who offers curated experiences centering indigenous women of the Zapotec culture.
4. Perspective (some thoughts on life and the world)
While blissfully out of the loop – in a far away, heavily indigenous state of Mexico with my family – I was blessed to experience many sites and people, including visits to pre-Columbian ruins, craft workshops and markets, great eating and cooking.
Meanwhile, the world continues to get down with its bad self – scapegoating and hiding its head in the sand – while we continue to strive and thrive, appreciating life and building, with Love.

Charlie Kirk, huh? What a brutal and senseless end. And for what? Nothing. Here was someone with a mission, who actually cared about his life, and the lives of others. And a cowardly terrorist (yes, get used to that word, and behavior) took his life rather than listen, or argue, or organize, or vote. And at the age of 22 no less. What does this say about the younger generation’s capacity to cope and co-exist?
Anyway, I’m feeling good about what I’ve done here in Denver – last weekend – hopefully some shots in the arm, financially. It hasn’t been that great, relative to other shows I’ve done. Don’t get me wrong – I loved my space – and my vendor neighbors. The audience – while it has nice & appreciative people – is generally a bit jaded and entitled, given that it seems to be a buyers’ market. It’s hard to justify such a huge offering of vendors to a relatively small number of attendees. Actually, the turnout is good – with promotion stronger than ever – but their wallets are split and foot traffic is dissipated by literally square miles of merchandise to peruse.

1. I Made It: the result of 3 days’ setup, ready to receive!
I was nervous about how everything would work out, logistically – but it all fell into place – my pallets were there; my UPS packages arrived at a friend’s; even the 2 flats I put into my carry-on were intact (2 pieces broke, out of hundreds now being showcased). I’m really happy with the configuration of my tables, I have a comfortable table I sit at, and I even brought a few floor mats to make the ground less tough on my feet. Now into day 2, I’m getting a sense of the audience, and loving when they appreciate my offerings. Two days down and 8 to go. 3. Veteran Crystal King: “it’s all about the grading!”
I’ve always admired his company: Starborn Creations – but this time I met him, the owner Arne – who explains in this video how he got into rocks as a kid, and turned his passion into a (big) business. What I found particularly interesting is that he echoes my own experience – which is that most of this business is about grading, categorizing, making sure everything is priced right. 1. Cross Country: showing gems from the NE to the SW!
I realized, while making this video, that I was in the far Northeast of the country, doing a rock club show in Augusta Maine. But in just a week, I’ll be exhibiting in the Southwest (Denver), at the much bigger Gem Show there (at the National Western Complex). I had 6 eight-foot tables at this show, and had to split the inventory 4 ways when I broke down: some for the store (to be re-organized, and displayed better, for future shows); some for Denver (I actually fit 2 flats into my luggage); some for Topsfield (my next East Coast show); and some for NJ (where the bigger display pieces have a better chance of selling).

As the 2nd largest show in the USA – the Denver Gem Show, specifically as held in the National Western Complex – is host to a stunning variety of vendors, Heyerdahl Designs being one of them (feature from the ’24 show). 4. Perspective (some thoughts on life and the world)
Major logistical challenges – and hopefully successes – coming up. I send this from the airport en route to Denver. I should arrive at the venue later this afternoon. I’m hoping my 2 pallets will be there, waiting for me at my booth. I’ve never shipped them directly to a show before, so my fingers are crossed that all will go according to plan. Then – at the end of the 10-day show – they’ve gotta make it safely back east, arriving on the day I have to load out and go set up Topsfield. Fortunately I have a great team to staff that long-hour show, and I’ll be heading myself to NJ for the Fall show there, in hopes that I can earn anything like what I do at the May show. Between all this – I’ll be visiting & traveling with family – and observing the decline of Western Civilization daily (sad).

1. Lebanon, PA: an unlikely spot for a major show!
In the middle of hundreds of square miles of cornfields and Amish Country is an important Pennsylvania Fairgrounds, at which is held (in Aug + Nov) a sizable magnet of a gem show, with dozens of retail dealers, and at least a dozen wholesale dealers. Still took me 8 hours to set up, but the TLC paid off, I have a steller display of everything from $7 hearts to $700 specimens. 3. Denver Preview: The Tents open you up to a world of goods!
I’ll be exhibiting at the Denver Gem Show (at the National Western Complex) right after Labor Day – and this video gives you a nice preview of the outside tents – filled with plenty of surprises! My neck is feeling better – the other driver assumed fault in my accident last week – and I got a modest settlement from my insurance company…PLUS, the shows go on…I’m in PA this week and I’ll be in ME at the end of the month, coming back 1 day before flying to Denver. My pallets have already been picked up with all my Denver product, but I’m likely to mail forward some supplementary items, ’cause I really wanna make a good impression there.
Some (lot of) people have missed the plot – by a long shot – for example: the UN took 22 months to finally acknowledge that Hamas used sadistic sexual abuse in the perpetration of their October 7th massacres. As with the quiet retractions by the NYT and other major news outlets, the blood libels (look that up_ they routinely amplify have done untold harm to the world’s sense of judgement and morality.

1. Highway Accident: end to a 160,000 mile ride (but I’m okay)
Freak accident, night before this video was taken. Driver came swerving at high speed (from the breakdown lane) into the Mass Pike, and across into my middle lane…in reverse! So I hit him, albeit at an angle. I’d honked, but there was no room to break. I hope he’s okay. I am, pretty much, apart from:
– some whiplash
– the huge loss of my work vehicle
– some product breakage
– a lot of (now useless) crunched storage bins; and
– an uncertain future (in terms of being able to replace it)
Yet I rise. The show must go on. See video below….

3. West Springfield Show: I’m glad I didn’t give up on it!
I pride myself in arriving early – that’s why I left the night before – to set up bright and early the next day. But God had different plans for me. I had a date with destiny, crossed paths with someone else’s confused driving, and lost a day having to drive across the state twice; get 2 rental vehicles; and go to the insurance auction lot and transfer all my items to the temporary ride. Then, the next morning, I had to set up on Opening Day, from 7am. But I pulled it off, and have had a decent show, today’s the last day. Come if you can!
4. Perspective (some thoughts on life and the world)
Life is short – I lost my long time drummer friend Charlie Thorpe last week – and then this week, I almost joined him, due to a high impact car crash on the Pike. I seem to have come away somewhat unscathed, physically (and mentally/emotionally), but this was a real setback, financially, with an uncertain future. Thanks to all who shared their concern and gratitudes on my Facebook post. I totally appreciate it, but also would ask: please devote some of that concern to the hostages, languishing in terror dungeons for no other purpose than to keep terrorists in power (and prolong everyone’s misery). Hopefully the reign of Hamas will come to a close soon, and the people of the region can take a more positive route for the future. That remains my own goal and purpose. Get up, dust yourself off, and keep on doing what you do best (in a good way).

1. Shark Crafts: long term relationships on the road!
Married 53 years! This dedicated couple has been involved with selling Shark Crafts for almost as long (JAWS came out 48 years ago). Anyhow, this is the type of unusual dealer you’ll see at the Hart Gem Shows. The video was shot at the Spring NJ Gem Show in May 2025. 3. Native American Art: stone sculpture from Canada!
I try to stop by this shop once a year – they’ve got great turnover – and admirable (as in large) price points (that make me jealous, as a store owner). I captured here some of my favorites, but there were a number of others that were share-ably worthy. Native American (or as they call them: First Nations) wood-carved and painted art from the Northwest and the Inuit (pka Eskimo) stone carving are very attractive to me, but the retail pricing is so high that I don’t have a market for them in my circles. Was great to get away this past week – visit some family in Canada – go to the Stratford Theatre Festival (and also visit the cool store featured above).
Now I’m under incredible duress – I think I have to get my Denver pallets together over the next FEW days – so I’ll be busy with that, as I ALSO have to prep for West Springfield (to which I’m going on Wednesday).
The NYT – and every misinformed “social justice warrior” – continue to spread “blood libels” (which is when you accuse someone of something preposterous and untrue, and most who hear it then concur and amplify it, even if it gets debunked and is later apologized for)…sigh…today marks the destruction of the ancient temples in Jerusalem (due to the same types of intolerant instincts toward erasure).

1. Unusual Crystal Ball: sunny orange yellow Selenite!
For Selenite-lovers, this Russian variety is a “delicacy” – just a bit harder than what we’re used to (from Morocco) – with great orange/yelllow color, and perfect for carving. 3. Funky Fossils: preview of the Denver Gem Show
A cornerstone at major gem shows across the country, these folks always have outstanding specimens and skeletal trophies worth perusing. In this video, of course the dinosaurs, hippo, and giraffe are standouts. But it was the giant red hematoid Quartz from Morocco that most blew my mind. Still, my open rate and the fact that thousands of you care to see what I have to say, is rewarding.
