1. I Made It: the result of 3 days’ setup, ready to receive!
I was nervous about how everything would work out, logistically – but it all fell into place – my pallets were there; my UPS packages arrived at a friend’s; even the 2 flats I put into my carry-on were intact (2 pieces broke, out of hundreds now being showcased). I’m really happy with the configuration of my tables, I have a comfortable table I sit at, and I even brought a few floor mats to make the ground less tough on my feet. Now into day 2, I’m getting a sense of the audience, and loving when they appreciate my offerings. Two days down and 8 to go. 3. Veteran Crystal King: “it’s all about the grading!”
I’ve always admired his company: Starborn Creations – but this time I met him, the owner Arne – who explains in this video how he got into rocks as a kid, and turned his passion into a (big) business. What I found particularly interesting is that he echoes my own experience – which is that most of this business is about grading, categorizing, making sure everything is priced right. 4. Perspective (some thoughts on life and the world)
Feeling optimistic, at the start of my Denver vending experience – days are long, 9 hours for 10 days in a row – but I’m already making new friends, and determining what they like to buy.
Still modulating my relationships, based on political biases, but feeling ever confident that I’m on the right side of history.
